CASE STUDY 02 / SPACE AND VISUAL STORYTELLING
Steenberg Village: a place captured with purpose
The architecture matters. So do the tenants, people and small moments that make the centre feel alive.
Steenberg Village needed visual material that could show more than a building. Supermarketing created a substantial photography library, supported by tenant-focused video, to help the centre tell a richer story about the place, the businesses within it and the experience customers recognise.

STEENBERG VILLAGE / SENSE OF PLACE
Exterior and contextual photography establishing the centre, its architecture and setting.
THE CHALLENGE
More useful than a collection of wide shots.
A retail destination is experienced in layers: the architecture, signage, shopfronts, products, people, service and the movement between them. A generic set of wide shots would document the centre without necessarily communicating its character. The brief called for a more useful visual bank—one that could support individual tenant stories and broader destination marketing without every new post or campaign requiring a fresh scramble for imagery.
THE APPROACH
Plan for the stories the library needs to tell.
PLAN
Identify the centre, tenant and content stories the library needs to support, then plan coverage across place, people and detail.
CREATE
Photograph the environment with future marketing use in mind, balancing establishing images with closer moments, products and human activity.
DELIVER
Curate a reusable image library and supporting tenant-video material that can be selected for different formats and narratives.
STEENBERG VILLAGE / THE WORK
Selected work
Sense of place
Exterior, architectural and contextual views that establish the centre and its setting.
Tenant stories
Shopfront, in-store and business-focused material that gives individual tenants room to be seen.
People and activity
Human moments that help the centre feel active, useful and familiar.
Products and detail
Closer visual material for food, retail, service and campaign-led storytelling.
Video
Tenant-focused footage that adds movement and personality to the wider content system.

THE RESULT
A broad, original visual bank.
The project created a broad, original visual bank rather than a handful of disconnected hero photographs. That gives the marketing team more ways to tell the centre’s story: as a destination, as a collection of businesses and as part of customers’ everyday routines. The library’s strongest proof is its range.
